About Dr Christopher Steen

Dr Christopher Steen is a Melbourne based specialist in Colorectal and General Surgery with a special interest in the screening and treatment of colorectal cancer, as well as colonoscopy, gastroscopy and proctology (haemorrhoids and anal disease). Dr Steen also provides expert surgical treatment for a range of general surgery conditions, including abdominal hernias, gallstones, and pilonidal disease.
Dr Steen has an interest in minimally invasive ‘keyhole’ laparoscopic and robotic surgery to shorten recovery time and minimise patient pain and scaring. He is dedicated to providing caring and compassionate healthcare, and aims to ensure every patients’ health care needs are met in a timely fashion with the best possible outcomes.
Dr Steen has completed extensive medical training, including a Fellowship in General Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), as well as a further sub-specialisation in Colorectal surgery with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ).
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr Steen is committed to advancing healthcare through research. He has a Masters in Surgery (Edinburgh) and maintains a strong academic focus as an Adjunct Research Fellow at Monash University. He has led a multitude of clinical trials, is widely published in renowned surgical journals, and continues to present at various esteemed national and international surgical conferences, and has received multiple prestigious awards for his contributions to the field.
